  • Lemon juice and water
  • Best to avoid acetaminophen (reduces liver glutathione)

Glutathione

  • Powerful antioxidant
  • Recycles vitamin C and E (antioxidants)
  • No reported side effects
  • Slows progression of underlying illness
  • Makes certain areas of the brain more sensitive to dopamine
  • Intravenous has greatest effect

Other Beneficial Supplements

  • Coenzyme Q 10 (cellular energy production); lowered by most statin drugs (for cholesterol)
  • Phosphatidylserine – key membrane molecule
  • Vitamin D – powerful antioxidant
  • Ginikgo biloba – preserves cognitive performance

The Initial Consultation

  • Dr. Marier meets with patient (and caregiver) for one hour for an intake interview and consultation
  • Home visit or CCIM
  • Complete health history taken, and screening physical
  • Patient’s wellness goals reviewed

What happens next…

  • Dr. Marier drafts an individualized naturopathic protocol, with cost analysis based on patients’ wellness goals
  • May refer to other Hospice programs and to social work if patient has interest
  • Look into extended health care coverage

Not just a one-time event…

  • Most naturopathic protocols require supervision and adjustment
  • Bad medicine to just give a protocol and expect patient to navigate it on their own especially if supplementation or treatment is indicated
  • Supplements and follow-up consultations are fee-for-service

Summary

  • INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE – part of a TEAM
  • Treats the INDIVIDUAL, not the pathology
  • Treats the WHOLE person – body, mind, and spirit
  • Intravenous glutathione treatment now available
  • Very few interactions, improves quality of life, patient satisfaction
